A prefabricated substation is a power facility in which the main equipment of the substation is prefabricated and assembled in the factory and then transported to the site for rapid installation. This type of substation is widely popular for its convenience and flexibility. The following are the main components of a substation:

1. High-voltage equipment

The high-voltage equipment is the core part of a compact substation and is mainly used to receive high-voltage power from the power grid. These devices usually include:

High-voltage switch: used to control and protect the circuit to ensure the safe switching of the current.

Transformer: converts high-voltage electricity into low-voltage electricity to meet user needs.

Isolating switch: can safely isolate the circuit when maintenance or overhaul is required.

2. Low-voltage distribution equipment

Low-voltage distribution equipment is responsible for distributing the low-voltage electricity converted by the transformer to each load. The main components include:

Distribution cabinet: integrates multiple electrical components, such as circuit breakers and contactors, responsible for the distribution and protection of electricity.

Current transformer and voltage transformer: used to monitor current and voltage to ensure the safe operation of equipment.

3. Protection and monitoring system

In order to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the substation, the protection and monitoring system is indispensable, mainly including:

Protection relay: real-time monitoring of current and voltage, automatic power cut-off when abnormalities occur.

Monitoring system: including various sensors and instruments, capable of real-time data collection and remote monitoring.

4. Cooling system

Transformers and other equipment will generate heat during operation, so the cooling system is very important. Common cooling methods include:

Natural cooling: relying on air flow to reduce temperature.

Forced cooling: using fans or water cooling systems to improve heat dissipation efficiency.

5. Structure and shell

The shell of the container substation is usually made of steel or fireproof materials to ensure the safety and durability of the equipment. At the same time, the shell design should also consider waterproof, dustproof and corrosion-resistant characteristics to adapt to various environmental conditions.

6. Grounding system

A good grounding system is the key to ensuring the safe operation of equipment. The grounding system can effectively prevent the hazards caused by lightning strikes and electrical faults, and protect the safety of equipment and personnel.

The design and manufacture of compact substation components require comprehensive consideration of the coordination and cooperation of various components to ensure their efficient and reliable operation. With the continuous growth of electricity demand, substations will play an increasingly important role in future power construction. Through rapid deployment and flexible configuration, substations can meet the needs of different regions and environments and promote the sustainable development of the power industry.
