Parameters and technical specifications to consider when selecting low-voltage switchgear

In the power distribution system, low-voltage switchgear is one of the key components, and its selection directly affects the safety and reliability of the system. When selecting switchgear, there are multiple parameters and technical specifications that need to be carefully considered to ensure its suitability and performance.

1. Rated voltage

When selecting a mechanical switchgear, the first thing to do is to determine its rated voltage. Usually, the rated voltage of switchgear is 400V or 690V. It is necessary to select a suitable rated voltage according to the actual application scenario to meet the operating requirements of the electrical equipment.

2. Rated current

The rated current is an important parameter in the design of pad mounted switchgear and must match the current of the connected load. The selected switchgear should be able to withstand the maximum load current to avoid equipment damage due to overload.

3. Short-circuit withstand capacity

The sf6 insulated switchgear needs to have a certain short-circuit withstand capacity to cope with possible short-circuit faults. This parameter is usually expressed in kA (kiloamperes). When selecting, the short-circuit current level of the system should be considered to ensure that the cabinet will not be damaged in the event of a fault.

4. Protection level

The protection level (IP level) is an important indicator to measure the dust and water resistance of equipment. The protection level of switchgear should be selected according to the installation environment and use conditions to ensure the safety of the internal components of the cabinet.

5. Operating temperature range

The operating temperature range of the switchgear should be consistent with the actual use environment. Usually, the standard range is -5°C to +40°C, but specific applications may require a wider temperature range. Ensure that the cabinet can still operate stably under extreme conditions.

6. Safety protection function

Modern switchgear distribution is usually equipped with a variety of safety protection functions, such as overload protection, short-circuit protection, and leakage protection. When selecting, ensure that the cabinet integrates the required protection measures to improve the safety of the system.

7. Connection method

The connection method of the switchgear (such as incoming and outgoing lines) needs to be compatible with the design of the power distribution system. Common connection methods include bottom incoming lines, top incoming lines, and side incoming lines. When selecting, space and layout requirements should be considered.

8. Reliability and maintainability

When selecting a switchgear, its reliability and ease of maintenance should be evaluated. A well-designed cabinet should be easy to maintain, convenient for overhaul and replacement of parts, thereby reducing daily operating costs.

When selecting a switchgear, comprehensive consideration of the above parameters and technical specifications can ensure that the selected equipment meets actual needs and improves the safety and reliability of the power system. Reasonable selection can not only effectively reduce the failure rate, but also improve the overall operating efficiency and provide guarantee for the stability of the equipment.
