Safety matters that need to be paid attention to during the operation of box-type substations

Publish Time: 2024-09-18 17:45:38     Author: DELIXI

Box-type substations are an integrated and compact substation equipment, which is widely used in urban power distribution, industrial and mining enterprises, construction sites and new energy projects. Due to its small footprint, easy installation and short construction period, substations are gradually replacing traditional indoor and outdoor substations. However, during operation, it is crucial to ensure safe operation.

Safety matters during operation

1. Regular inspections

During the operation of substations, regular inspections are required, mainly checking the following:

- Temperature: Check whether the temperature inside the box is within the normal range to prevent equipment failure due to overheating.

- Noise: Pay attention to whether there is abnormal noise during the operation of the equipment. If there is abnormal noise in the transformer, switchgear, etc., it may indicate equipment failure.

- Odor: If a burnt smell or other abnormal odor is found, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection to prevent equipment overload or short circuit.

2. Emergency treatment

During the operation of modular substations, electrical faults such as short circuit and overload may occur. In order to deal with these emergencies, a complete emergency plan should be equipped, including:

- Fault alarm system: During the operation of the equipment, the corresponding monitoring and alarm system should be configured to detect problems and alarm at the first time.

- Cut off the power supply: If an abnormal situation is found, the power supply should be cut off immediately to prevent the fault from further expanding. The power-off sequence must be strictly followed during operation to prevent secondary accidents.

- Fault handling process: Operators should be familiar with the process of handling electrical faults and conduct fault troubleshooting and handling in a timely manner according to the predetermined plan.

3. Lightning protection and grounding protection

Container substation are mostly in outdoor or semi-outdoor environments and are easily affected by lightning strikes. Therefore, the equipment must have good lightning protection devices and grounding protection to ensure electrical safety during equipment operation and avoid lightning damage to equipment or operators.

Equipment maintenance and maintenance

1. Regular inspection and maintenance

Regularly inspect and maintain various electrical equipment in substations, including transformers, circuit breakers, cables, grounding systems, etc. Maintenance work should ensure:

- Good insulation performance: Check the insulation of cables and wiring parts, and replace aging parts in time;

- Grounding resistance meets the standard: The grounding resistance value should be tested regularly to ensure that the equipment is well grounded;

- Equipment cleaning: Clean the inside and outside of the box regularly to prevent dust or dirt from affecting the operation of the equipment.

2. Safety measures during maintenance

When performing equipment maintenance, it is necessary to ensure that the power supply is completely disconnected and the equipment is in a power-free state. Operators should wear professional insulation protection equipment and follow relevant safety operating procedures to avoid accidents caused by electric shock or misoperation.
