Basic Concept

In low voltage distribution system, control transformer is named because it is used for control system. It is actually a step-down transformer with a variety of output voltages. It can also be used as a power source for low-voltage lighting and signal lights

The use of control transformer should pay attention to two points: one is transformer power, the other is correct wiring. The total power of the load connected to the secondary side (secondary) shall not be greater than the power of the control transformer, not to allow short circuit. Otherwise, it will cause its temperature to become too high, and in serious cases, it will be burned. Control transformer one, two (that is, the primary, secondary) wiring shall not be wrong, especially a side wiring can not be wrong. The voltage values that should be connected to the primary side are marked on its wiring terminals. It is forbidden to connect the 380 V power cable to the 220 V wiring terminal, but you can connect the 220 V power cable to the 380 V wiring terminal. In this case, all the output voltage of the secondary side will be reduced by 1.73 times. The secondary load should be connected to the corresponding wiring terminal according to its rated voltage value, for example, the 6.3V indicator light should be connected to the 6.3V terminal, the machine tool 36 V lighting bulb should be connected to the 36 V terminal, the machine tool 127 V AC contactor coil should be connected to the 127 V terminal.

Working Principle

The control transformer works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. A transformer has two sets of coils. Primary coil and secondary coil. The secondary coil is outside the primary coil. When the primary coil is connected to an alternating current, the transformer core produces an alternating magnetic field, and the secondary coil produces an induced electromotive force. The coil turns ratio of a Satons transformer is equal to the voltage ratio.
