What is the maintenance cycle of oil-pressure transformers?

As an important equipment in the power system, the maintenance of oil-immersed transformer is essential to ensure normal operation and extend service life. The length of the maintenance cycle depends on many factors, including the working environment of the transformer, the frequency of use, the load conditions, and the manufacturer's recommendations. The following are some important considerations about the maintenance cycle of power transformer.

1. Regular inspection

Generally speaking, regular inspections of distribution transformer are recommended every 6 months. This includes checking the quality of the insulating oil, the oil level, the temperature, and whether there are any abnormalities in the appearance (such as leakage, contamination, etc.). Regular inspections can detect potential problems in time, thereby avoiding more serious failures.

2. Oil quality testing

The quality of the insulating oil directly affects the performance of the transformer. It is recommended to conduct oil quality testing every 1-2 years, including testing of indicators such as color, dielectric strength, acid value, and moisture content. If the test results show that the oil quality has deteriorated, the insulating oil may need to be replaced.

3. Maintenance records

It is recommended to keep detailed records during the maintenance process, including the date, content, problems found, and treatment measures of each inspection. This not only helps to track the operating status of the transformer, but also provides a reference for subsequent maintenance.

4. Impact of environmental factors

If the electrical transformer is operated in a harsh environment (such as high temperature, high humidity or places with pollutants), the maintenance cycle needs to be shortened, and it may be inspected every 3-6 months. In such an environment, the transformer is more likely to fail, so more frequent maintenance is necessary.

5. Load conditions

High load operation will cause the temperature of the transformer to rise, thereby increasing the risk of failure. For transformers with long-term high load, it is recommended to increase the maintenance frequency, regularly check the temperature and load conditions, and adjust the load or perform load reduction operations when necessary.

6. Manufacturer's recommendations

Transformers from different manufacturers may have different maintenance requirements. It is best to refer to the user manual provided by the manufacturer and perform maintenance according to the recommended cycle.

The maintenance cycle of oil filled transformer is not fixed and needs to be flexibly adjusted according to specific circumstances. Regular inspection, oil quality testing and recording of maintenance conditions are important means to ensure the normal operation of the transformer. By reasonably arranging the maintenance cycle, the reliability of the oil-pressure transformer can be effectively improved, the risk of failure can be reduced, and its service life can be extended.
